Pat Peoples (Bradley Cooper) her zaman bardağın dolu tarafına bakan, “Her şeyde bir hayır vardır,” sözüne inanan bir adamdır. Karısı kendisini başka bir adam için terk ettikten sonra akıl hastanesinde kalan Pat, karısını geri kazanmaya ve hayatını yeniden düzene sokmaya kararlıdır. Moralinin bozulmasına asla izin vermemeye çalışan Pat anne babasının yanına taşınır ve kendisini karısının istediği türden bir adam olmaya çalışmaya adar. Ancak bu zor bir mücadeledir.
